SoS Weekly Jams #3

Week Three: To Immensity! (and Beyond)

This week we go from Bertrand Belin’s postcard of strangely-seated people to Andrea Lazlo de la Simone’s immensity. Isn’t it an excursion through the contrasted, poetic and somewhat bittersweet landscapes of daily life? On our way, we’ll cross the path of excess, like Kovacs' string-drenched foray into craziness or Run The Jewels' joyous cacophony of sarcasm. Ministry of Echology will make us stomp with a pretty boy in Vilnius. SAULT will make us take a good look at the miracle that is each of us. We’ll take part in Moon Gogo’s odd dialogue with whimsical joy and in Soko’s coarse melancholy. We’ll take relief in My Ugly Clementine’s no-questions-asked sense of community, we’ll groove to Automatic's emotional fatalism, we’ll follow Stefanie Schrank through cities that lie under cities that lie under cities, we’ll find School of X who've been forgotten on the moon and Sevdaliza confronted by a roaming dark side.

And, of course, we’ll have our heroes by our side : Enzo Bontempi’s Italian Spiderman (the best of them all) and The Wellingtons' Zorro, «so cunning and free ».

At the end, we might be a little sad. Would it be because, as Nabokov said, there’s a sense of loss attached to beauty? Or simply because we have to part for this time? Anyway, whatever we do next, we’ll strictly stick to The Chap’s advice and always remember to bring our dolphin.

Every Friday for Summer of Solidarity, the Euradio team picks 15 cool tracks out of its recent airing list to showcase the best of what European sound has to offer.
