SoS Weekly Jams #7

Week Seven: Going with the wind

This week, we go with the wind. We start with drum rolls and English Wax Machine’s intriguing Time Machine. Then, we follow the sound of a creek into the hopping sound collage of Cosmo Sheldrake and Flora Wallace’s Don’t band. We stay in England for a caustic portrait of a certain Graeme and his invasive worldview by Yard Act. Then we join Hungarian OIEE and Floras Floras on their groovy ride. A ride that leads us to Greece where we meet Daphne and the Buzz’s « Mr Everywhere », the ever-smiling man of solace. Is he the one that Mler Ife Dada longs for in a smooth oddity straight out of 80’s Portuguese indie scene? Anyway, we commune in « One love » with English Cleo Sol and we choose the Spécial du Jour with Copasetic, canadian member of the Italian-Dutch-Australian Ill-legitimate crew. English Lack of Afro introduces us to his bad a** self. We keep swearing with French Pat Kalla et Le Supermojo’s cover of Serge Gainsbourg’s « Requiem pour un c** ». And we hop to Ukraine for Гурт [O]’s « Golden Age », a puzzling yet compelling blend of reggae and eurodance. Continuing on, Zamir sings in French and we sing along with this element of a booming Nigerian hip hop scene. "No more music" sings French-German duo Stereo Total, the end must be near and we’re off to the beach with Dutch The Homesick. Luckily, we still have time for The The’s 37-year-old hit, « This is the day ».

Every Friday for Summer of Solidarity, the Euradio team picks 15(ish) cool tracks out of its recent airing list to showcase the best of what European sound has to offer.
